Essential Auction News

Welcome to the September newsletter that looks back at auction activity in August and preceding periods. August is historically a quiet month in the auction calendar with volumes being at around 25% of the average monthly levels. Notwithstanding this, the number of green arrows (indicating a higher figure than the corresponding period last year) is at 14 out of a possible 36, which is the highest number of green up arrows since February.

Whilst the number of lots offered was down in both residential and commercial, the % sold and amount raised was up indicating a larger average lot size and better sale rates. Overall the sale rate increased from 69% in August 2019 to 72% and amount raised was up from £68.3M to £74M, a rise of 8.3%. September has been a busy month as well, indicating that the market is working well in the current difficult conditions.

As ever I would welcome any comments or feedback you may have regarding the newsletter or indeed the wider market in general.

Please note the newsletter can also be viewed online.
